ZX "Aggressor"
One of Paul's first major fiberglass projects was the restoration and customization of
a Japanese "Fairlady ZX", a right-hand drive vehicle he had purchased while
living in Okinawa Japan in the 80's. Shortly after the completion of this lengthy
restoration, the car was stolen and never recovered. Upon his return to the states Paul
picked up an American version of the same car and started over. As with most Nissan ZX's,
this car was fairly rusted through. After the removal of the rust, there was very little
sheet metal left on the car, Paul decided to create new body panels in glass. Not content
to return the car to it's original form (he'd already done that once), Paul decided to
create a bolder version of the car with inspiration provided by Dick "Korky"
Korkes' work on a Z car for a scene in the Mark Hamill and Annie Potts film "Corvette
Summer". New, wider, body panels, Air Dam, rocker panels, Whaletail, rear valence,
and custom hood were created for the "Aggressor" as well as the addition of
Pirelli Pzero 345 30 R15's mounted on custom made Centerline 15 x 15 inch rims. The result
is a very striking appearance. The body was painted gold as a tribute to the missing first
car, which was also produced in gold. This car was the favorite of the Z car fan club at
its debut at Kit Cars of Carlisle. The unbelievably wide 19-inch footprint of the rear of
this car has found many a Z car fan under the rear of this car looking for a custom made
shortened rear axle. In actuality, the body of this car was widened 12 inches to legally
accommodate the custom wheels and tires. This car may one-day find it's way into the film
and television world as either a getaway car or possibly even the daily driver of TV's
next costumed superhero.
