The Future of law enforcement in New Detroit, Robocop. While the Robocop is undeniably
a most effective crimefighter, he is not very portable and would have a hard time putting
an end to crime in the entire city of Detroit on foot. The producers of the first film
knew from the start that he needed a ride. They got him one. Jay Ohrberg Star Cars was
hired to create a supercar for this modern superhero and they did. A jet-powered Chevrolet
Camaro ROBOCOP JET POLICE CAR with supercar styling and a dashboard that made it look like
a sibling of the Knight 2000
Only Robocop didn't fit in it. ENTER THE FORD TAURUS
SHO.
With some quick thinking and very little time and budget remaining, the 1985 Ford
Taurus SHO came on the scene as Robo's new set of wheels. This car sported a lighted
pushbar, roof mounted spotlight, onboard computer and dashboard arsenal.
Several cars were created for the first film and even more were created for the sequels.
Some of these cars can still be seen in use in the television series as well. A few of
these cars were sold off at auction and a few have found their way into car museums around
the world. One of these cars is for sale in our FOR SALE section with an original suit and
letters of Authenticity. Code One's car is a replica. For a recent auto show at the end of
1998, Code One Custom Auto teamed up with several prop collectors who attended the show,
in various authentic movie costumes. One of these costumes was a Robocop suit. The show
promoters were very happy to have him and Code One decided to provide a vehicle for him to
use as a backdrop. As no flat-black Ford Mustangs were available, the logical choice was
to grab a Taurus. As luck would have it, the first one they found was Black and silver.
With some quick assistance from the decal shop and the Police Supply companies, less than
a week later a new Robocop Taurus was born.
This 1987 Ford Taurus (Non-SHO
sorry) Includes the following Police Accessories:
Code 3 Pushbar (guess they liked the name) Similar to those used on first film cars
Code 3 Excalibur light rack (type used in the third film) Golight Remote controlled
spotlight (chosen over the black painted timing light & shifter boot of the film car)
Gall's Security Screen Dash mounted laptop computer Replica Remington Shotgun Replica
AR-15 Rifle Replica Robocop 9MM Auto 9 Pistol
The car was finished in flat black with a gray interior, the Robocop suit became part
of the Code One Custom Auto moviecar collection immediately following the auto show.
