General Lee
From the streets of Hazzard County comes one of the most famous cars of all time. The
General Lee from the Television series "The Dukes of Hazzard" staring Tom Wopat,
John Schnieder, and Catherine Bach as "Daisy Duke". Literally hundreds of these
cars were created and destroyed for this long running series that featured the Duke boys
outrunning the law in their ex- NASCAR racing car turned moonshine runner. This show
continues to be popular in syndication today and has found itself a whole new generation
of fans on the TNN network.
This 1969 Dodge Charger was recently purchased from Jay Ohrberg Star Cars of Los Angeles
and arrived in excellent condition. Repairs that needed to be made to the vehicle were
consistent with what you might expect this stunt vehicle to need. Dried out rubber fuel
lines, worn through electrical cables (small interior fire at first connection of the
battery), few leaks, old dirty gas and oil, a broken window, and "not a single
working component of the braking system". (Guess them Duke boys drove this one hard)
Very unlike the General Lee of television fame, which defied the laws of physics and
gravity when it came to body damage, this car did arrive with a few dents. All in all,
this car was rendered "barely drivable" about an hour after its arrival. Still
intact were the roll cage, the brush guard and the "Dixie Horn". This car is a
wonderful addition to the Code One Stable.
